Spring Style Guide

I get asked a lot about what to wear for family photo sessions. I do not consider myself a fashion mogul, but I do know what works on camera!

Here are my favorite combinations for spring. If you haven’t read my family style guide, please read it here. It has some tips on where to start with picking outfits. Below you will find what works for spring and with flowers.

Neutrals will always be my favorite. They are a classic and look good on everyone. When dressing in neutrals, play with texture. Linen, lace, and wool add some character to the photos without overpowering or fighting in color. Another reason I love neutrals is it makes for artwork to be hung in your home that goes with any decor!

Neutrals are: whites, creams, grays, chambray, khaki, light denim.

Another way to approach styling is to have one person in a pop of color and the rest of the family in neutrals, or complimentary colors.

These palettes show soft tones with patterns to give it some dimension. Yes, you can mix patterns! If the patterns are soft and not matchy-matchy (like everyone in gingham or florals), it works!
